IOT(Stands For Internet Of Things)
Definition:-
Internet Of Things is basically defined as the network of Physical devices(objects) with embedded systems and other technologies in it which is used to connect or communicate with other devices 0r system over the INTERNET.
Some Examples of IOT-
1. Smart Lighting- Smart lighting is the concept of IOT which is used to consume the electricity smarty or can only be used when needed.
Ex:- when you left the lights on in your home can be turned off if it is connected with IOT(or basically with internet)
2. Noise Monitering- As we know that today the Factories are operated or working all the day So a particular kind of System(IOT) will continuosly moniter the noise created by the factory if it is harmful for the people then it can warn the factory.
3. Pollution Monitering.
4. Traffic Signal or Toll Management- Toll can be managed when the amount is paid.
5. Energy Management.
6. Smart Farming.
7. Predictive Maintainence:- The system with IOT enabled machine can predict the upcoming problems and related maintanence by seeing the performance of the system.
8. Outdoor Survellience.
What is the purpose of IOT?
The purpose of IOT can be characterised by-
1. Automation- The general idea of IOT is to connect all devices, hardware or other systems for their direct communication without human intervention.
2. Connectivity- Enhanced connection with a global network can provide easy access to the information.
Advantages 0f IOT-
1. Reduces Human Efforts.
2. Better use of resources.
3. Better services to customers.
4. Effective operation management.
5. Mobility- The devices can be accessed from any remote location.
6. Agility- The response is very quick.
7. Provide jobs in IT sector.
Disadvantages of IOT-
1. Security flaws.
2. Power management.
3. Network dependent.
4. Creates job unemployment.
5. Associated expensive cost for the devices.
6. Compatabilty.
7. High skills required to manage IOT devices.
Characteristics of IOT-
1. Connectivity.
2. Scalability.
3. Dynamic and Self adapted.
4. Security.
5. Intelligence and identity.
6. Architecture.
IOT Conceptual Framework-
IOT conceptual framework is nothing but an equation which in result gives us IOT.
So, the simple conceptual framework is-
Physical object + sensors/actuators/Controllers + Internet = IOT(Internet Of Things)
Actuators:-Actuators are used to convert the signals into motion.
The Framework given by Oracle-
[Layer1] [Layer2] [Layer3] [Layer4] [Layer5] [Layer6]
Gather + Enrich + Stream + Manage + Acquire + Analyse
(Info.) (Gateway) (Internet) (User info) (DataBase) (Anaylsis)
Layer1 - firstly IOT devices gather/collect the information here.
Layer2 - Then all the information is gone to the Gateway, With Gateway the edge devices are also connected (edge devices are basically used for processing the data as we have huge amount of data so it helps Gateway to manage the data).
Layer3 - The Edge devices are connected to the server over the internet.
Layer4 - layer 4 manages the User related information.
Layer5 - It resides all the data.
Layer6 - After user authentication, proper data analysis the data/information is sent to the user for visualisation.
